| Dance Theatre Story - film competition |
|
Every year, hundreds of films regarding various subjects are created - films of educational, cognitive or entertainment value. Dance, however, is a very specific field which, unfortunately, has a rather humble film output. It is not easy to express a theatrical spectacle's idea or capture the dynamic of dancers' movement with two-dimensional cinematography, despite dance being the most basic human way of communication.
With the 'Dance Theatre Story' competition we would like to encourage artists to speak in a language of film about anything connected with theatre, dance, movement and emotions. The festival's keynotes are THEATRE AND DANCE. The authors have got full freedom of form, expression, means of narration, and convention. The most important things are the concept, the process, the message, the content and the final stage result. It can be both short or full-length film forms - etudes, impressions, documentaries, reports, creations, photocasts, animations, etc.
Organisers
1. The film competition will take place in Tarnów as a part of the 2nd Dance Theatres' Festival 'Open Stage', organised by the Mościce Art Centre. The project is co-financed by the European Union and Lesser Poland's regional budget as a part of Lesser Poland Regional Operative Program 2007-2013.
2. The programme of the Dance Theatres' Festival 'Open Stage' includes:
- dance theatre spectacles
- competition film screenings (Dance Theatre Story)
- photography exhibitions
- press conferences with the authors and meetings with the audience
- accompanying events
Entry conditions
The competition is open, which means that either amateurs as well as film students, photographers, independent authors and professionals of various professions, both from Poland and abroad, can enter it. We would like every film entering the competition and being presented to the audience, represent a good artistic and technical standard. The screenings repertoire will be based on submitted works.
Jury and awards
1. All works fulfilling the Terms and Conditions will be selected by the qualifying committee appointed by the Organisers.
2. The entrants can win 9,000 PLN (about 2000 EURO). The award will be presented by a member of the jury or a special quest of the Festival. Additionally, the ZAIKS Society of Authors will grant the Bogusław Wojtowicz Special Award.
3. The pool will be distributed at the Competition Committee's discretion.
